I remember that episode but thumbnails is a process used in concept art by all artists.
helps get ur ideas down without getting bogged down on details then you can pick the best design and clean it up.

Umm I'm with you, 4. But now that I watch closely, aren't their legs a litte too short?
I first paint there anatomy as a template then paint armor over to ensure proper proportions.
most people make the mistake of making the legs too long while thinking its the right proportions, but the helmet is larger the the head and the padding make the upper body bolder making the legs appear a bit short but under all the armor its properly proportioned.
